Access Network

Boston, MA

about-image

Latine and English learner students experience disproportionately low rates of graduation from high school and enrollment in higher education institutions. The Latine College and Career Access Network is a partnership of five community organizations in Boston, Massachusetts, that focuses on the lack of college and career pathways for local Latine youth and youth of color. One hundred percent of participants in the network are economically disadvantaged, and the majority have an immigration background and are Spanish speaking. Eighty to eighty-five percent of participants are the first in their families to attend college.

The network serves approximately 250 students ages 14–21 in Boston Public Schools, providing free, year-round programming, including mentoring, skill-building and exploration, sector-specific training, internship placements, academic case management, and family engagement. In 2022–23, 100 percent of participating youth achieved on-time grade promotion and were on track for high school graduation; 85 percent successfully transitioned to postsecondary education; and 90 percent felt a stronger connection to their community.
