Here are a few tools and resources we used to support our Community of Practice.
The experiences young people have in our schools today will shape our society tomorrow. Transcend’s Leaps toward Extraordinary Learning for All describe the key ways we believe these experiences must change so that every young person can reach their infinite potential. These Leaps help schools move from experiences that often leave young people disconnected and struggling to experiences that are engaging and effectively build the knowledge, skills, and mindsets young people need to thrive in and transform the world. Bringing these Leaps to life requires thoughtful and coherent decisions across every part of a school’s design.
In 2021, Transcend launched the Leaps Student Voice Survey, a valid and reliable tool to gather evidence about the quality of students’ learning experiences. We recently conducted analyses to better understand the relationship between students’ experiences in school, as measured by the Leaps Student Voice Survey, and a range of important outcomes.
This framework lays out the five conditions, the underlying dimensions of each, that help communities take on school redesign processes.
Collective Leadership requires shared goals for the success of a multi-sector partnership. Measuring success cannot end at graduation and industry credentials earned, it must understand progress all along the way. This resource captures some short, mid, and long term goals that initiatives shared with us by students, school systems, industries, and communities.
This report helps educators, funders, policy influencers, and all other readers better understand the current state of young people’s learning experiences—the good, the bad, and everything in between—so we can move together towards a world where school is not just “fine,” but instead truly extraordinary for every learner. This report provides evidence to support four core findings, grounded in the voices of students across the country and in a framework that outlines the key ways Transcend believes school must change so every young person can reach their infinite potential.
This is a tool we leveraged with our cohort of grantees to help them map the conditions required for the success of their initiatives, core design elements of their programs and partnerships, impacts on young people through experiences and outcomes, as well as impacts on their broader communities.
